Last Ashra of Ramadan, comprises of the blessed most nights of the Islamic year. Ashr is numeric for ten in Arabic, and by the last Ashra of Ramadan, we mean last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan. Why are these last ten days of Ramadan so special? Because of the Laylatul Qadar.
Hazrat Aisha Radiallah Anha stated that Rasool Allah peace be upon him said,
“Look for Lailat-Ul-Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadhan.” (Bukhari)
Laylatul Qadar is the holiest night. We as Muslims are advised by Prophet Muhammad to make best possible effort to find this night. How to identify Laylatul Qadar is a separate question. To be on a safer side, Muslims are recommended to search for it in all the odd nights of the last Ashra of Ramadan. Now, many of us are aware of the significance of the night, but since it comes yearly, so most of us are often unaware of what to do on Laylatul Qadar.
