Status of women in Islam is very high and respected. In Islam women has an honored position. Along with legal and civil rights Islam has special respect, love, affection to women. Now a day’s people think that women liberation began in 2oth century in the west instead women liberation start when ALLAH revealed women liberation to the prophet (pbuh). Islam guarantees every woman certain duties and rights. In Islam women is recognized as equal partner in the procreation of humankind. As Man is the father then woman is the mother so and both are essential aspects for life. So women have equal right and share in every aspect of life. So, fourteen centuries ago, Islam declared men and women equally responsible to God in glorifying and in worshiping him. Allah says

“O mankind! Be careful of your duty to your Lord Who created you from a single soul and from it its mate and from them both have spread abroad a multitude of men and women. Be careful of your duty toward Allah in Whom you claim (your rights) of one another, and towards the wombs (that bore you). Lo! Allah has been a Watcher over you.” (4:1)

Islam gives equal importance and rights to women’s in every matter of life. Prophet (Pbuh) said:

“Seeking knowledge is a mandate for every Muslim (male and female).”

Islam gives a woman freedom of choice and expression. ISLAM Also gives equal economic rights to women. Women are entitled to receive marital status gifts, and to keep properties and financial gain for his or her own security. Islam states that it is not a duty of women to spend a penny on household. Islam also addressed the rights of wife very beautifully. It is stated in Islam that:

“And among His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves that you may live in tranquility with them, and He had put love and mercy between you; Verily, in that are signs for people who reflect.”

So after seeing this we can easily understand that Islam put men and women on one scale and declared equal rights. Prophet (pbuh) has advised his companions to treat their wives with great love and respect. Prophet (pbuh) clearly sets an example that how husband should treat his wives. Prophet (SAW) said:

The best among you is he, who has best manners, and the one who is good mannered is he, who is good and nice to his wife.”

Islam also declared a beautiful status to daughters if we see in our prophet life then he showed an exemplary love and affection for his daughter. Someone asked from hazrat Ayesha (r.a) that who was loved most by prophet (pbuh) she replied that hazrat Fatima (r.a).

Islam gives great respect to mother as well. As it is stated in Islam that:

Allah brought you forth from the wombs of your mothers, when you knew nothing, and gave you ears and eyes and hearts that you may employ them beneficently.” (16:79)

Once a man accepted Islam but his mother did not accepted islam .his mother asked him that how  does you prophet (pbuh) treat his mother, he replied that he declared to treat mother with love and great respect. But still his mother insisted Him to give up Islam and went on hunger strike. He went to prophet (pbuh) and submitted to him his story. Prophet (pbuh) advised him that both things are equally important to keep your faith and feeding the mother. The man had to listen to mother’s taunts and harsh language, yet he continued to attend to his mother with respect and love and kindness and remained steadfast on Islam at the same time.

So this is the beauty of Islam. Unlike other religions Islam gave upon woman a distinct status and rights. It is stated in  that women is equal to man in getting rewards by Allah (SWT) for her virtues like man. It is stated in Islam that:

“The believers, men and women, are

friends of one another. They

enjoin good and forbid evil and observe Prayer and pay the

Zakat, and obey Allah and His Messenger. It is these on whom

Allah will have mercy. Surely, Allah is Mighty, Wise. Allah has

promised the believers, men a

and women, Gardens beneath which

rivers flow, wherein they will

abide, and delightful dwelling

places in Gardens of Eternity, and the pleasure of Allah, which is

the greatest bounty of all. That is the supreme triumph.”
