One clock, four school calendars
The United Kingdom keeps a single time — GMT in winter, British Summer Time from late March to late October — and four different school years underneath it. Scotland goes back in the middle of August and finishes at the end of June. England and Wales return in early September and run to the middle or end of July. Northern Ireland differs again.
A family with children in different nations, or one coordinating with relatives across the country, is therefore working around several sets of dates at once. The clock is never the problem here. The calendar frequently is.

Scotland runs earliest
Back in mid-August, out at the end of June. A Scottish family's summer starts and finishes several weeks before an English one's.
England and Wales have more, shorter breaks
Three terms, each split by a half-term week, plus a fortnight at Christmas and another at Easter. Frequent interruption rather than long ones.
Northern Ireland sits between the two
Its own dates again, and worth checking rather than assuming either of the others applies.

A country long enough to change the length of a fast
The UK runs from about fifty degrees north in Cornwall to past sixty in Shetland, and that range is wide enough to matter during Ramadan. A summer fasting day in the Northern Isles is appreciably longer than one on the south coast, and families who move within the country sometimes meet this without warning.
It also means a single national rule of thumb about lesson timing does not work. A household in Aberdeen planning around Maghrib will end up with a very different schedule from one in Southampton, even though both are reading the same clock.
The approach that holds everywhere is to fix the lesson to the clock rather than to sunset, and to review it twice a year — once in spring and once in autumn — rather than adjusting it continually as the evenings shift. Students keep a habit that stays still; they lose one that creeps.
The half-term breaks deserve the same deliberate treatment. Individually each is only a week, which does very little harm to fluent recitation. There are five or six of them across a year, though, and a student who takes all of them off has lost a month and a half of consolidation without ever having taken a long holiday.

Do school holidays fall at the same time across the UK?
No. Scotland, England and Wales, and Northern Ireland each keep their own dates, and Scotland's year in particular runs several weeks earlier at both ends.
Should we schedule lessons around Maghrib?
It is usually steadier not to. Sunset moves across several hours between midwinter and midsummer here, and further in the north of the country. Fixing to the clock and reviewing twice a year is easier to sustain.
Is it worth studying through half-term?
A reduced schedule is worth it, especially for memorisation. Each break is short, but there are five or six a year and the cost is cumulative.
Does the clock change affect our slot?
Only against tutors elsewhere. The UK shifts in late March and late October; other regions shift on different dates, and Australia shifts in the opposite season. Confirming at each changeover prevents the drift.
Which parts of the UK do you cover?
All four nations. The class is held over video, so there is no catchment area and no postcode affects availability.
Can we request a female tutor?
Yes, and it is a routine request rather than an exception. Because the choice is not limited to who is locally available, it can almost always be met.
How many lessons a week do you recommend?
Three or four short ones rather than one or two long ones. Both Tajweed and memorisation respond far more to how often material is revisited than to how long each sitting lasts.
