As humans, we try to do everything within our limits to increase sustenance, whether in our job or business. We intend to double our means of income by striving hard. We believe Allah has not created a single soul whose sustenance isn’t decided. He provides Rizq to everyone, including Muslims, non-Muslims, animals, and all creatures. That is why He is ar-Razzaq (One who gives you Rizq). Allah says in the Holy Quran:

 وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱللَّهِ رِزْقُهَا وَيَعْلَمُ مُسْتَقَرَّهَا وَمُسْتَوْدَعَهَا ۚ كُلٌّ فِى كِتَٰبٍ مُّبِينٍ

“And no moving (living) creature is there on earth, but its Provision is due from Allah. And He knows its dwelling place and deposit (in the uterus, grave). All is in a Clear Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz – the Book of Decrees with Allah).” [Quran 11:6]

10 Tips to Increase Provision

Undoubtedly, Allah decided our sustenance, yet there are some Halal ways through which we can increase our wealth. So, Let’s discuss them in detail:

  • Seeking Forgiveness as Much as You Can

Or seeking forgiveness from Allah for our sins is one of the best ways to increase Provision. Repentance is the key to all our problems. When we repent, Allah opens the door of sustenance, removes away all hardships and difficulties we face in our lives, purifies us from the sins we have done, and Allah provides us wealth from such means that we don’t even expect.

“I said (to them): ‘Ask forgiveness from your Lord, verily, He is Oft-Forgiving;

He will send rain to you in abundance,

And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers.’”

[Quran 71: 10-12]

In a Hadith, Ibn Abbas (May Allah be Pleased With Him) said: The Messenger of Allah (Peace be Upon Him) said,

“If anyone constantly seeks pardon (from Allah), Allah will appoint a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide sustenance for him from where he expects not.” [Abu Dawud]

So, when you occur a loss in your business or are worried about a job, try saying Astaghfirullah as much as you can.

  • Observing Taqwa (Fearing Allah)

Allah has promised in the Holy Quran that whosoever fears Allah, He will provide him from sources the person has never even imagined. So, as true believers, we must observe Taqwa and righteously perform our duties. According to Allah in the Quran:

وَلَوْ أَنَّ أَهْلَ ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّقَوْا۟ لَفَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَرَكَٰتٍ مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَٰكِن كَذَّبُوا۟ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ

And if the people of the towns had believed and had the Taqwa (piety), indeed, We should have opened for them blessings from the Heaven and the earth, but they belied (the Messengers). So We took them (with punishment) for what they used to earn (polytheism and crimes).

[Quran 7:96]

In another ayah, Allah says that if we fear Him, He will provide us with a way to get out of every difficulty, whether in business, your job, or your career.

“And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him; He will make way for him to get out (from every difficulty).

He will provide him with (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever trusts Allah; then He will suffice him….”

[Quran 65: 2-3]

  • Saying Thanks to Allah

Allah says in the Holy Quran:

وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمْ لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ ۖ وَلَئِن كَفَرْتُمْ إِنَّ عَذَابِى لَشَدِيدٌ

“If you give thanks (by accepting Faith and worshiping none but Allah), I will give you more (of My Blessings); but if you are thankless (i.e., disbelievers), verily My punishment is indeed severe.” [Quran 14:7]

The best way to say thanks is to read out ALHAMDULILLAH; it will not only increase your Provision, but it is also one of the best forms of Dhikr (Remembering Allah). [You can learn more Duas for praising Allah and thanking Him, Register for our Dua memorization course]

  • Ties of Kinship

One should be extremely careful while dealing with their family as Allah most dislikes severing family ties. Our immediate family, i.e., brothers, sisters, uncle, aunt, parents, etc., have some rights over us, and if we want to increase our Provision, we must behave with them nicely. Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated a hadith of the Prophet (Peace be upon Him): He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should unite his kinship ties. [Reported by Al-Bukhari 6138] Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon Him) said:

“Whoever loves that he would be granted more sustenance and that his life span would be prolonged, then he should unite his kinship ties.” [Reported by Al-Bukhari 5986 and Muslim 2557].

  • Asking Your Guests to Offer Dua for You to Increase Rizq

The guests can make supplication for us when they have finished eating. So, next time when you have guests who come over for dinner or tea, do ask them to offer supplication for you. This will increase your Provision, and you can also return the favor when you visit them.

‘O Allah, bless for them, that which You have provided them, forgive them, and have mercy upon them.’ [Muslim 2042]

  • Giving Charity (Sadaqah) to Increase Rizq

It seems like our wealth decreases when we give to charity. But there is some hidden reward behind this, and Allah promises to replace whatever we give in His way. Allah says in the Holy Quran:

قُلْ إِنَّ رَبِّى يَبْسُطُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَقْدِرُ لَهُۥ ۚ وَمَآ أَنفَقْتُم مِّن شَىْءٍ فَهُوَ يُخْلِفُهُۥ ۖ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ

“Say: “Truly, my Lord enlarges the Provision for whom He wills of His slaves, and (also) restricts (it) for him, and whatsoever you spend of anything (in Allah’s Cause), He will replace it. And He is the Best of providers.” [Quran 34:39]

In Surah al-Baqarah Allah says:

“The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allah is the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knower.” [Quran 2:261]

Abu-Huraira (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated: ‘The Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) said:

“Every day, two angels come down from Heaven, and one of them prays:

“O, Allah! Compensate every person who spends in Your Cause.”

The other (angel) prays:

“O, Allah! Spoil the properties of every miser.” [Bukhari]

  • Performing Hajj and Umrah

Abdullah ibn Masood narrated The Messenger of Allah (Peace be Upon Him) said:

“Make the Hajj and Umrah follow each other closely, for they remove poverty and sins as the bellows remove the dross of iron, gold, and silver, and an accepted Hajj brings no less a reward than Paradise.” [at-Tirmidhi]

  • Taking Out Time for Worship

No matter how busy we are in our lives, we must not forget to pray Salaah on time and observe the obligatory deeds. We should not be one of those who pray hastily; instead, take time from our busy schedules to pray and supplicate; otherwise, Allah will never remove poverty from us.

Abu Huraira (May Allah be pleased with Him) reported that the Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) said,

“Allah says, ‘O son of Adam! Take time to worship me constantly; I will fill your chest with richness and remove your poverty. And if you do not do so. I will make your hands filled with occupation and will not remove your poverty.” [Ibn Majah]

  • Making Duaa/ Supplication to Increase Rizq

Dua is the secret weapon of the believer. It is the only thing that can change our destiny, and if Allah wills, He may provide us more when we supplicate often. Allah loves those who offer supplications and ask Him for everything, even if it is a shoelace. The Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) said:

“Ask Allah for everything, even the lace of your shoes. If Allah does not provide, it will never be available.” [at-Tirmidhi 4/298]

The Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) used to make special supplications to increase Provision after the Fajr Salaah. Umm Salamah narrated Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say after Fajr prayer:

“‏ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً

O Allah, I ask you for good (halaal) Provision, beneficial knowledge, and accepted good deeds.

[Narrated by Ahmad and Ibn Majaah]

We must keep praying to Allah to save us from poverty and hunger. It was narrated that Muslim ibn Abi Bakrah said: My father used to say the following every prayer:

 اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَالْفَقْرِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْر‏”

O Allah, I seek refuge with You from disbelief, poverty, and the torment of the grave.

And I used to say them too. My father said: O, my son, where did you get this from? I said: From you. He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon Him) used to say that following every prayer. [Narrated by al-Nasaa’i]

  • Being Truthful in One’s Dealings

One must be truthful in his dealings and tell people of any defects in some items. If he finds some defect, he must be honest enough to tell the buyer about it.

The Prophet (peace be upon Him) said:

“The two parties of a transaction have the right (to annul the contract) as long as they do not separate (from each other). So, if they were truthful (to one another) and honest in explaining (the defects of an item), then they would be blessed in their transaction. But, if they lied and hid (the defects of an item), then the blessings of their transaction are destroyed.”

[Narrated by Muslim]

Conclusion

We must remember that sustenance is something bestowed upon us by Allah. He is the only one who may provide abundance; if He wishes to offer us, none can stop him. But for that, we must observe Astaghfaar, say alhamdulillah for even the little we have in our lives, leave the significant sins, give charity as much as we can, pray on time and take out time to worship Allah.May Allah provide all of us Rizq-e-Halal. Ameen
