Iddah Period for Widow Women:

The widow observing her `iddah, the duration taken after the demise of her spouse, is obliged to stick to some uncommon condition.

The Iddah period in Islamic lawful phrasing is after her spouse’s downfall. In which the women have been told to cease getting married. As indicated by the mandates of Allah, the Iddah period for widows is four months and ten days.

Allah says in the Quran:

“And those of you who die and leave wives behind them, they (the wives) shall wait (as regards their marriage) for four months and ten days.”

(AlQuran 2:234)

Iddah Period for Divorced Women:

For a woman sitting tight for the iddah period of divorcement, the upkeep installment is required upon her spouse. Thus it is redundant for her to go out. Her spouse must care for her.

O Prophet, when you [Muslims] divorce women, divorce them for [the commencement of] their waiting period, keep count of the waiting period, and fear Allah, your Lord. Do not turn them out of their [husbands’] houses, nor should they [themselves] leave [during that period] unless they are committing a clear immorality. And those are the limits [set by] Allāh. And whoever transgresses the limits of Allah has indeed wronged himself. You know not; perhaps Allāh will bring about after that a [different] matter.

(At-Talaq, 65:1)

Iddah Period for Divorced Pregnant Women:

If a pregnant lady is divorced, her Iddah keeps going till the birth or miscarriage of the child. Thus, if she gives birth one hour after the divorce, her time to follow these rules is over. This is because of an honest-to-goodness offspring of the spouse who is divorcing if the pregnancy is illegitimate. And her spouse divorced her; the Iddah period won’t be over.

These limitations are for Divorced Women, widows, or pregnant women is the same except for some rules and regulations. But it is compulsory in all the above cases to fulfill the Iddah period.

She needs to stay in the house that was her living arrangement when her spouse passed on until the end of her `iddah. The length of the `iddah is four months and ten days. Unless she is pregnant, her `duration will be until she conceives offspring.

In the Quran:

And those who no longer expect menstruation among your women – if you doubt, their period is three months, and [also for] those who have not menstruated. And for pregnant women, their term is until they give birth. And whoever fears Allāh – He will make for him of his matter ease.

That is the command of Allāh, which He has sent down to you; and whoever fears Allāh – He will remove for him his misdeeds and make great for him his reward.

(AlQuran 65:4-5)

She may not leave the house during this period except for necessities. Thus, for example, she goes to the hospital in case of illness, to the market to buy food, etc., if no one is available to bring her.
