Depression and worries can make you feel hurting and useless. These can also make life, in general, seem empty and worthless.

Depression and Worries In Life

Stress is anything that causes mental, physical, or spiritual tension. There is no running away from it. All that is important is how you deal with it. This article does not deal with the factors of stress, anxiety, depression and worries, nor is it clinical advice. It tells that if you feel depressed, remember that you are not alone; ALLAH is always there with you. Islam has blessed us with many Dua’s to get rid of depression and worries and feel relaxed and hopeful. So we should build up our belief in ALLAH and recite Dua’s to get rid of depression and worries.

What causes Depression?

Turn each anxiety, fear, concern, depression and worry into a Dua. Consider it as a source or another reason to surrender to God; it takes you closest to ALLAH. God listens and already knows what is in your heart, but He wants you to ask Him for what you want.

The Prophet said:

“ALLAH is angry with those who do not ask Him for anything.”

Alhamdulillah, here are some Dua’s to make when under stress and to experience anxiety Depression and worries. They are a means of dispelling fear, seeking forgiveness of Allah, and seeking His aid, protection and guidance.

And whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a depressed [i.e., difficult] life, and We will gather [i.e., raise] him on the Day of Resurrection blind.” (Qur’an, 20:124)

In another verse, Allah has revealed that

And [He also forgave] the three who were left behind [and regretted their error] to the point that the earth closed in on them despite its vastness and their souls confined [i.e., anguished] them, and they were sure that there is no refuge from Allāh except in Him. Then He turned to them so they could repent. Indeed, Allāh is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful. (Qur’an, 9:118)

Dark Life Because Of Depression And Worries

To give it the current name, this dark life, worries, or stress is the outcome of non-believers’ failure to tolerate the moral values imparted by faith. Indeed, it has been revealed in many verses of the Qur’an that Allah imparts “peacefulness” upon the believers.

“Anyone who acts rightly, male or female, being a believer, We will give them a good life, and We will recompense them according to the best of what they did.” (Qur’an, 16:97)

How to overcome Depression?

When a person faces depression and worries, he feels engulfed in darkness. It is tough to overcome dark patches of life, but the verse mentioned above clarifies that if a person has a firm belief in ALLAH, ALLAH takes him out of that darkness.

Anas said that when the Prophet, peace be upon him, was faced with a severe difficulty, he would always supplicate,

“Ya Hayyu, ya Qayyumu, bi-rahmatika astaghithu

(O the Living, O the Eternal, I seek help in your grace).”

Sa’d ibn Waqas reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said,

“The supplication made by the Companion of the Fish (Prophet Yunus) in the belly of the fish was,

‘La ilaha illa anta, subhanaka, inni kuntu minadh-dhalimin

“There is no god but You, You are far exalted and above all weaknesses, and I was indeed the wrongdoer”.

His supplication will be accepted if any Muslim supplicates in these words.”

Ibn Mas’ud reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said,

“If any servant of Allah afflicted with distress or grief makes this supplication, his supplication will be accepted: ‘O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of your maidservant. My forehead is in Your hand. Your command commencing me prevails, and Your decision concerning me is. I call upon You by every one of the beautiful names by which You have described Yourself, or which You have revealed in Your book, or have taught anyone of Your creatures, or which You have chosen to keep in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Qur’an the delight of my heart, the light of my breast, and remover of my griefs, sorrows, and afflictions.”

Caliph Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

“Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was grieved by something, he used to pray.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“How wonderful is the believer’s situation, for all his affairs are good. If something good happens to him, he gives thanks for it, which is good for him; if something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience, which is good for him. This does not apply to anyone but the believer.” (Narrated by Muslim).

Quranic Verse to overcome Depression

Those who have believed and whose hearts find peace in the remembrance of Allāh – indeed it is in the remembrance of Allāh that hearts find peace.” (Al-Quran 13:28)

Despite his energy, creativity, intellect, wisdom, the conquest of space, deliberation and action, man is a weak and helpless creation in ALLAH’s boundless universe. Man has hundreds of needs and worries. If we talk too much about our needs to men, they may not like it. But, the more we ask from ALLAH, the more HE grants us, and he becomes happy.Everyone needs success.

Dua is the core of worship, the light of the heavens and the earth. It opens the doors of kindness and is a means to fulfil our needs from the resources of our Creator and Sustainer. Turn to the One who has a solution to all our problems and worries.
